2013 – Oil & Gas Project Operator, South West Region, Western Australia.

Following our work facilitating an agreement between project operators and  Traditional Owner’s (TO) in the SW Region, IndiEnergy have been engaged by operators of a neighbouring project to facilitate the negotiation of their ‘future act’ agreement. As per IndiEnergy’s approach, the key focus areas include working towards a win/win outcome for all parties and building trust between stakeholders to ensure a long term working relationship contributes to the projects success.

2013 – Indigenous owned and managed business  – Western Australia.

Through Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) funding, IndiEnergy facilitated the development of a ‘strategic opportunities framework’ to a team of Aboriginal entrepreneurs who are endeavouring to turn their many years of skills and experience in their profession into a successful ‘start-up’ business. The framework identifies a range of opportunities and options to successfully enter and thrive in their chosen industry. It outlines significant market research and due diligence; various business scenarios, financial models and structures; clear pathways for developing internal and external capability and deliverables; and innovative market entry pathways and growth strategies. The business development process involves significant skills and learning transfer to the client and has provided them with the knowledge and tools to successfully establish and grow their business.

2013 ongoing – Aboriginal Corporation / Native Title Group, South West Region, Western Australia.

IndiEnergy is providing ongoing native title advice and support to this group seeking to progress their native title claim. These TO representatives have funded the initial advice and support through their own incomes in an effort to gain some recognition and momentum in addressing their native title issues and concerns.

2013 ongoing – Traditional Owner Group – Pilbara Region, Western Australia.

IndiEnergy are providing independent advice, support and representation on native title, business and economic development, governance and corporate management. This group, made up of the main TO native title Applicants and their families, have funded independent advice out of their own incomes in response to the years of frustration and distrust brought on by their native title representative body.

This group of Aboriginal entrepreneurs is seeking to create their own TO controlled and operated entity, to develop and foster local economic opportunities for the benefit of the TO’s, their families and future generations.

IndiEnergy, on behalf of the operator, facilitated the engagement of the TO group, through their representative body, and negotiation of a land access and project development agreement. IndiEnergy’s approaches to these negotiations is aimed at mutual benefits and buy-in for all stakeholders and establishes the platform for trust and long term working relationships between the parties.

2012 ongoing – Native Title Group, NSW.

IndiEnergy are providing ongoing native title advice and support to native title Applicants in a NSW claim.

2012 – 2013 – Native Title groups – Kimberley region, Western Australia.

IndiEnergy provided native title and commercial advice to a number of TO groups and individuals in the region. Much of this work is ongoing.

2012 to present – Traditional Owner Development Corporation, Darwin, Northern Territory.

Through IBA funding, IndiEnergy facilitated the development of a strategic plan to map out the recovery of this corporation, who experienced significant financial and operational difficulty through a downtown in core business opportunities.

IndiEnergy were further engaged by the corporation to provide commercial and corporate advice and support to the corporation in implementing the plan. With IndiEnergy’s assistant, the corporation reviewed and restructured their core business and internal structures; capitalised fully on a number of activities already in play; and developed strategic and innovative approaches towards new commercial opportunities in the region.

2012 – Native Title Development Corporation – South West Region

IndiEnergy provided corporate and commercial advice on a range of business and economic development opportunities within the corporation’s representative region. This work is ongoing.

2012 – Local Indigenous owned and managed business, Darwin, Northern Territory.

Through IBA funding, IndiEnergy provided commercial and corporate advice and support to remove this Aboriginal owned and operated civil works  company from a poor ‘joint venture’ agreement which included significant and unreasonable restraints and liabilities. IndiEnergy assisted to restructure the business and avoid insolvency through the development and implementation of a ‘strategic opportunities framework’ which identified commercial options and opportunities, improved business modelling and structures, due diligence, finance, marketing and community engagement activities. In addition, we provided ongoing mentoring and support to assist the clients into new contract opportunities.

2012 – Local Indigenous owned and managed business, Broome, Western Australia.

Through IBA funding provided strategic business development & growth planning for this ‘start-up’ audio visual equipment hire company. The company is owned and operated by two local Aboriginal entrepreneurs from Broome who saw untapped opportunity  through major  infrastructure projects planned for the region. Through a staged development process which required significant input and ownership by the clients, a strategic framework was produced which identified options and opportunities pathways, business modelling and structures, due diligence, finance, marketing and community engagement activities.

2012 – Native Title Traditional Owner group – Kimberley Region, Western Australia.

IndiEnergy facilitated a native title ‘future act’ agreement between the project proponent, seeking to establish a granite quarry in the region, and the TO group, frustrated at constant delays in the process from their native title representative body which had extended the negotiation to 2 years without progress or satisfactory explanation. IndiEnergy were engaged by the TO’s to expedite the process. A native title agreement was facilitated in 3-6 months in a process that engaged both the proponents and the TO’s and established the platform for long term supported working relationships between them.

2011 – present – Local Indigenous owned and managed business, Perth / South West Region, Western Australia.

Through Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) funding, IndiEnergy provided strategic business development & growth planning to this young Aboriginal entrepreneur seeking to establish a civil works and construction company to tap into the infrastructure development opportunities in his traditional lands. Through a staged development & learning process, a comprehensive strategic plan emerged which identified and provided a range of options and opportunities, business modelling and structures, due diligence, finance, marketing and community and proponent engagement activities. IndiEnergy have provided ongoing mentoring and support, mostly on a pro-bono basis, to assist this operator to reach a suitable level of professionalism and capability, win contracts and build track record within their chosen industry.

2011 – 2012 – Development of numerous investment proposals.

Developed numerous innovative commercial proposals connecting TO’s and investors – commercial and financial analysis, due diligence, modelling and structure development, marketing, community and corporate engagement.

2011 – Traditional Owner groups – Pilbara Region, Western Australia.

IndiEnergy provided independent advice and support to various Traditional Owner (TO) groups and individual members on native title, corporate governance, mediation and negotiation; and commercial and business development. Much of this work is ongoing.

2011 – IndiEnergy restructure.

Established shareholders and management board, advisory committee and commercial partners. Grew team. Identified and established strategic relationships with other service providers and individuals. Marketing and engagement strategies implemented.

2010 – Native Title Traditional Owners, Gascoyne – Western Australia.

Provided native title and ‘future act’, corporate governance and commercial advice and support to a Traditional Owners (TO) and their families seeking to progress their native title claim after years of inaction and misinformation by their native title representative body. This work is ongoing.

2010 – Native Title Prescribed Body Aboriginal Corporation, Gascoyne – Western Australia.

Provided ‘future act’, corporate governance and commercial advice and support to CE and Board.

2008 – 2009: Native Title Prescribed Body Aboriginal Corporation, Pilbara – Western Australia.

IndiEnergy provided corporate and commercial advice to this corporation to avoid insolvency and improve systems and processes: In addition. IndiEnergy provided ‘future acts’ advice and negotiation, valuations and financial assessment, due-diligence and other commercial advice in the sale of a major mining asset.
